Sustainable Design Collective highlighted by Mix Interiors

Our friends and media partners over at Mix Interiors published an article highlighting our new Sustainable Design Collective think tank;

The Sustainable Design Collective sees some of the industry’s most prominent figures sharing their perspectives on environmentally considerate design – its present and its future.

Global networking group and platform Women in Office Design (WOD) has initiated a new think tank group, Sustainable Design Collective (SDC), committed to identifying the latest developments and best practices related to sustainability. The purpose of the group is to promote and applaud achievements and, more importantly, to create a forum for knowledge sharing and exchange.

Representing the full spectrum of workplace design, the collective is made up of sustainably minded architects, designers, manufacturers and suppliers.

“Sustainability is ultimately about balancing three key factors – the environment, society and the economy,” explains the WOD team. “Each themed topic will be addressed through the lens of three distinct aspects: products, places, people. There is so much ‘green wash’. Some companies seek to hide behind marketing words, we must call this out and highlight the importance of environmental responsibility.”

The collective meet regularly to connect and inspire, with an accompanying report outlining the key takeaways from the discussion – including difficulties and hurdles that can lead to further research and problem solving.

The most controversial talking points from the first meeting included the need to educate clients, knowledge sharing and misinformation, the industry’s fixation with ‘new’ and the importance of manufacturing transparency.
