WOD Feature: Livia Dicenso, Savills

For the first entry in our new WOD Feature series, we spoke with Associate, Designer & Architect at Savills, Livia Dicenso.

WOD: Let’s start off with your background and how you became involved with the workspace sector…

LD: My career started when I studied MA Architecture in Italy. I was lucky to have had the chance to work with the Compasso d’Oro winner Enzo Calabrese, my first mentor, who taught me the importance of an architect being involved in every aspect of a design (the classic Ernesto Rogers quote “from the spoon to the city”). This is the reason I’ve always been in love with interior architecture in the same way as the exterior.

Deciding to specialise in the workplace sector came from a personal preference: while residential projects are dependent on each person’s life and background, the office space is something that we can all relate to – it’s the place where we spend the majority of our time.

Seeing the impact good design makes in people’s daily lives is really one of the best rewards!

WOD: Tell us more about your current role…

LD: As an Associate Interior Designer and Architect for Savills Workplace & Design, I can be involved from Stage 0 to Stage 7, depending on the contract chosen by the client. The beauty of our studio is that we have incredibly talented people in every team, from Research to Development Strategy, from Change Management to the amazing technical experts – being a small studio gives us the opportunity to learn from each other.
