Una Bolsa Menos, Una Tortuga Mas – Milan, Italy: 2024 @Gabriel

In early June 2024 WOD Italy had the pleasure to partner up with Gabriel Fabrics, to host a workshop with Las Tejedoras, a project by Casa Congo, winners of the “Products” category at 2023’s Sustainable Design Awards presented by the Sustainable Design Collective.

We started by learning about the project, from cleaning the ocean of plastic bags that harm turtles to up-cycling them creating beautiful design items for corporate offices and hotels around the world, empowering a group of women who have become entrepreneurs, supporting their community, the education of their children and building homes.

We then explored the crafting process and participants got to experience a few steps of it, including the creative phase of developing a concept for a new design, and we are very grateful for the effort and the beauty of them!
