Sustainable Plastics: A Myth or Reality? – London, UK: 2025 @KI (CDW 2025)
Is Plastic a Sustainable Material? That was the big question we tackled at our recent Women in Office Design panel discussion hosted at the beautiful KI showroom in Clerkenwell.
With sustainability front and center of our industry conversations, we brought together a powerful panel to unpack the complexities, contradictions and opportunities when it comes to plastic use in design. From its role in the circular economy to its often misunderstood environmental impact, the discussion was thought-provoking, honest, and inspiring.
Luke Pearson presented impressive insights and data on this topic which set the tone for the panel discussion to follow.
Thank you to our insightful speakers: Asif Din (Sustainability Director, Perkins&Will), Luke Pearson, (Director, Pearson Lloyd), Lydia Randall (Director, BDG), Joanna Knight (Co-founder, Sustainable Design Collective, Jeremy McWhinney (Operations Director, KI) and Alex Webb (Senior Sustainability Consultant, The Furniture Practice) and Harsha Kotak (WOD).
Thanks also to the team at KI for sharing the story of their Sebel chair – made from 100% recycled post-consumer plastic! And to everyone who joined us – your questions, curiosity, and commitment to better design make these conversations so worthwhile.
Let’s continue to ask better questions, challenge assumptions, and design with purpose.
