We invited everyone on the tour to bring three lenses with them:
CULTURE – how local identity, social values and ways of working shape the spaces we design.
MATERIALITY & CRAFT – the materials, textures and craft traditions that give each country its design voice.
EXPERIENCE – how spaces are designed to shape the way people feel, move and connect.
We began with breakfast at Norway, Church of Design, before moving through the Italian Collection and Italian Hospitality, the Spanish Collection at the Charterhouse, Tiles of Spain and the Austrian Collection at Detail in the Order of St John and Crypt, the German Collection at Catapult, Ceramics of Italy in St John’s Square, and Interiors From Spain presenting ‘El Salón’ at the Museum of the Order of St John.
We closed with lunch in the sun, tired feet, and the kind of conversations that only happen once you’ve really looked at something together.
What stayed with us most was the reminder that we never walk through design alone. We bring our histories, our cultures and our curiosities with us. And we leave with something different from the person standing next to us.
